Calvatomina nr. superba - A Globular or Garden Springtail (Collembola images)

A 'very small' juvenile of this species was photographed and found under a stone at Morrab Sub-tropical Gardens, Penzance, Cornwall. 17.10.13.

This is an alien species in the UK, species has been imported on plant material from New Zealand.

Thanks to Frans Janssens for the identification here. He says the most revealing feature here is the reddish eyes, typical in Calvatomina.
