Cetaceans (Whales and Dolphins)

I do not like adding pictures of dead animals on this website, with the exception of a few shells, but an extinction is taking place around the coast of Devon and Cornwall, and if it carries on
future generations may never see Dolphins and Porpoises in our coastal waters.

The following images are not for the screamish but they are the probable result of fishing
practises that should never be allowed to take place in our waters, the result of gillnetting and pair trawling for bass.

Dead Stranding - Bottle-nose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus)     head
Tregonhawke Beach, Whitsand Bay, Cornwall. 17.01.06 (Public Location)

If anyone wants to e-mail these images to a Member of Parliament and use them to complain about the present crisis, don't bother asking permission, just do it.

Anyone finding a stranded live or dead dolphin in Cornwall should contact the
Cornwall Wildlife Trust's Strandings 24 hour Hotline on 08452 012626, and in Devon contact the
Devon Wildlife Trust on 01392 279244.
