A PHOTO FAUNA OF THE DEVON AND CORNWALL PENINSULA
Introduction and Site Map
Most of the images included in this website were taken in the Plymouth Area, Plymouth lying on the border of both Devon and Cornwall. Some images are from further a field and from habitats in both East and North Devon and South-East Cornwall. All images have been taken by the author, David Fenwick, unless marked otherwise.
The region has an incredibly wide range of habitats within a very small radius, these include estuary and saltmarsh, rocky shores, dunes, wetland, moorland, bogs, lakes and ponds, woodland and wasteland; and of varying pH, from the acid peat moorland of Dartmoor to the alkaline limestone of Plymouth. This wide range of habitats is the main reason why such a wealth of flora and fauna is found in the region. This is a long term project but it is hoped that as years go by that this website will become more and more comprehensive and more representative of the variety of wildlife that can be found here.
In order to make this site as accurate as possible please report any nomenclature errors you might see, it helps me, but it'll also help a lot more people. Thank you. E-mail
